About Tail & Paw

Tail & Paw publishes general, vet-verified pet care guidance for dog and cat owners. Every guide is written or reviewed by a licensed veterinarian before it goes live. We do not diagnose over the internet, provide prescriptions, or replace an in-person veterinary exam.

Our veterinary advisory model

Content is researched from primary veterinary sources and reviewed by our veterinary advisor, Dr. Morgan Blake, DVM, DACVIM — a board-certified veterinary internist with five years in small-animal practice focused on nutrition, endocrinology, and senior-pet care. Dr. Blake reviews every piece for medical accuracy and ensures all medical content closes with a recommendation to consult a licensed veterinarian.

Our mission

Most pet owners Google a symptom at 11 p.m. and spiral into WebMD-level panic. We built Tail & Paw to give worried owners accurate, general information — the kind that helps them decide whether to call the vet now, call tomorrow, or simply keep an eye on things.

We are not a clinic. If your pet is in crisis, call an emergency veterinarian immediately.

What "vet-verified" means here

  • Every medical claim is checked against current veterinary consensus and peer-reviewed literature.
  • We cite primary sources (AAHA, AVMA, state veterinary boards) where possible.
  • Medical content always closes with a veterinary-evaluation recommendation.
  • We never give specific dosing, medication amounts, or treatment protocols.
  • If a guideline changes, we update the piece and move the "last updated" date.
